Cherry Blossoms

The Pressure to Bloom

The world is getting very loud right now.

Living here in BC, it’s hard to miss. Everything is turning that bright, aggressive green, the sun is staying up late, and there’s this unwritten rule that because it’s May, we should all be “emerging” with high energy and big plans.

But if I’m being completely honest, sometimes this time of year just feels like a lot of noise.

I’ve been talking to so many women lately who feel like they’re failing at spring. They look at their calendars and see the next few months filling up—the end of school year scramble, the social invitations returning, and just the general “life” stuff. Instead of feeling excited, they just feel tired. They’re bracing themselves for the pace of it all.

If you’re feeling that—that sense of “I’m supposed to be blooming but I’m actually just exhausted”—I want you to know you aren’t doing it wrong.

You Can’t Flip a Switch

We’re often told that we can just snap out of a hard season because the weather changed. But your nervous system doesn’t care about the calendar. If you’ve been carrying a heavy load—navigating a transition, dealing with burnout, or just holding everything together—you can’t just “switch on” the momentum.

In my work, I talk a lot about restoration. Not “fixing” yourself, and not just taking a nap, but actually letting your body feel like it’s okay to let go of the bracing.

If your body is telling you to stay quiet and move slowly right now, that isn’t a flaw. It’s actually a really wise piece of information. Forcing yourself to “perform” energy you don’t have is the fastest way to hit a wall.

Finding Your Own Ground

Before you jump into the “to-do” list for the week, I’d love for you to just take a second.

Check in with your shoulders. Are they up by your ears? Are you holding your breath while you read this?

You don’t have to match the pace of the world outside. You’re allowed to be the one who takes her time. Real change—the kind that actually sticks—usually starts in these quiet, slow moments where we finally stop pushing so hard.

I’m leaning into this myself this month. I’m focusing on what it looks like to find a “soft landing” instead of a crash landing.

Something to think about this week: Where are you trying to sprint when your body is actually asking you to just sit down for a minute? What happens if you listen to that request?

Join the Reset: On May 22nd, we’re going to be moving through this together.

I’ll be holding the live Overwhelm Reset inside our private FLOCK space—a quieter, more intentional container for reflection, nervous system support, and gentle guidance throughout the process.

This is designed to be low-pressure and accessible. You can move through it at your own pace, return when you need to, and engage in whatever way feels safest and most supportive for you.

No urgency. No pressure to keep up. Just a space to slow down, reconnect, and find your ground again.
